There already is a follow-up book they can make the next movie from. My wife tells me there is a series based on the Lily Bloom character. So, the property is "franchise ready".

I am doing neither and have not an ounce of FOMO about it, which is weird, given that I have gone happily for decades to both. But they both lost me in different ways. I'm sure I will have a moment of regret at some point. But not so far.

I've never been to Telluride, and TIFF definitely has its benefits, but maybe not in my current freelance situation. Time flies by so fast when you're our age that waiting a week or a month or two months to see a movie seems like nothing.

Telluride is expensive. But the new leadership is not the same. Toronto, I am fortunate to have a friend who makes accommodations very affordable. But there are not enough hours in the day to have many discoveries, if any. And the “must sees” are, yes, weeks away. I have become less concerned about writing first. I love seeing 5 movies or more a day. But a few days in, I lose a strong sense of why I am there lately. And the festival has lost its institutional memory. There are still moments I really enjoy… but fewer… not enough to go.

David, are you still doing Telluride and TIFF? Not that I'm going, just curious for my plans to follow what's going on with the premieres/movies and which are good/bad.
