Happy 4th of July Weekend.

When Movie City News launched 20 years ago, one of its most popular features was daily headlines. I wrote them for years and then handed the task over to the super-able Ray Pride for more than a decade. (David Hudson did his own unique headline take before we existed and still does them today… huzzah, brother!)

I am pleased with writing the newsletter 4 -6 times a week. Love it, really.

But after posting Dawn Hudson’s exit letter in whole without comment, and a chat with a friend, it struck me that I am doing the work of canning all of the content out there every day… maybe giving the crowd something they have always like would be a good balance for my columnist verbosity.

Simple, clean, opinionated headlines that simply link to the source instead of repurposing it (aka stealing) for more clicks. My goal, as it has been for the last 2 decades, is to offer the best writing and the original reporting as often as possible. Those are the pieces that deserve the clicks.

So I am giving it a chance… kicking the rust off… rebuilding the habit. I’m launching on a quiet weekend for a reason. If you like it or don’t like it or just want to push me in a general directions, please let me know.
