THB #649: In The Year 2025... (pt 1)

I am not fan of prognostications going into each new year. I don’t like making them, I don’t like the hubris is generates in me when I am right, I don’t like rationalizing when I am wrong.

And while I read a lot of them, I don’t really want to be the guy to explain how stupid and repetitive most predictions are. Basically, you see many of the same prognostications year after year, wrong year after year, but with a small twist and “here is why it finally is going to happen this year!”

The big ones lately are about Mergers & Acquisition in the filmed entertainment industry, the devaluation of theatrical although the only statistic that these Chicken Littles can still use is “tickets sold,” which is profoundly irrelevant, and delivery models we have named Streaming and Linear are 2 completely different businesses and one will win out with simple clarity… and variations based on this (nutty) notion.
