I am a friend of Anthony D'Alessandro. We don’t spend weekends fishing or anything, but I have known him for a long time and I like the man. I think he is smart and funny and interested in thinking things through.
The flip side is that he works for the dominant trade outlet and as their primary domestic box office writer, he has everyone who wants stories to go this way or that in his ear all the time.
It is my contention, not just about Anthony, that most media journalists are now too busy filtering what they are being told - what they’re hearing - and trying to find a balance between all the competing voices that there isn’t enough time for really thinking it through. (the full article)

The domestic box office is bound to do around $9 billion in 2025, roughly $300 million more than 2024’s estimated final figure of $8.7 billion. If so, it will be the second time that U.S.-Canada ticket sales hit that threshold post-Covid after 2023’s domestic tally of $9 billion.
