THB #644: The Singular Decade of Chris Pula
Chris Pula was a force of nature. He behaved as he chose. He spoke truth out loud whole others protected themselves with understatement or silence. He was funny as fuck.
And this industry only got him for 10 years of his 69 year long life. 34 to 44. Prime years, indeed. And he burned bright. He would have turned 70 in March.
My coming of age in covering this industry came at the very end of his New Line run and through the Warner Bros year and then, the Disney year, and then as he waited for his settlement from Disney to settle. I tried to make him into a teller of truths in the industry officially. We danced for a while, always insightful and charming and so funny. But when he was ready to leave town, away he went and away went his public profile.
I’ve never really tried to quantify Chris’ decade in the belly of the Hollywood beast. Until today.
