THB #578: Deadpool & Wolverine
How does one review this movie without spoiling it over and over and over again?
If you are going to see the film in the first weekend, though I am going to be very careful about spoilers here, I really suggest you just don’t read anything about the movie. Not even this.
Before I get to anything that isn’t reasonably cryptic about this movie, I can say this much. It has the unexpected freshness that all 3 Deadpool movies have had so far. Shawn Levy, as director of this franchise for the first time, does pretty flawless work here. He is a pro who knows what he is doing and manages to keep a lot of very complex action with a lot of characters making visual and story sense when many other directors would allow us to lose track and just focus on individual action and then the next individual moment. (If I were him, I would never try to make anything that gets too emotional again… there is some in here, but just enough. Maudlin is not Levy’s strongest skill. He is great at big energy and s…
