What does it tell us all when the most memorable moments at the Grammy Awards are Tracy Chapman showing up to sing her (fantastic and classic) 35-year-old song and Joni Mitchell showing up to sing her (fantastic and classic) 53-year-old song?
Maybe institutional memory matters, eh, AMPAS? Wink wink, nudge nudge.
Waiting on the Grammy ratings from last night, but last year, they had an uptick to 12.6 million. If they uptick again, that would suggest that maybe Oscar - The Grandparent of Them All - could do something similar… maybe up to 20 million viewers or more… about half of the number that was the norm a decade or so ago.
But what really struck me last night was how absurdly relentless the award season has been at this juncture.
