A few things.
American Fiction continues to find support in a variety of locations and continues to look like it will make it in the Top 10 for Best Picture with Jeffrey Wright looking locked in for a Best Actor nomination.
It would still be a shock if any of these films don’t get a Best Picture nod:
American Fiction
Barbie
The Holdovers
Killers of the Flower Moon
Maestro
Oppenheimer
Poor Things
The Color Purple continues to float around in range to get a Best Picture slot and seems sure to get a Supporting Actress slot for Danielle Brooks (not really new)… while Napoleon is a pretty solid box office success that awards voters just don’t want to include.
Three of these seven titles - Anatomy of a Fall, The Color Purple, Maestro, May December, Past Lives, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, and The Zone of Interest - will make Best Picture and four simply will not.
