I’ve been musing on the idea that we spend our lives gathering factual knowledge and experience… surviving our youths, all-so-sure of knowing everything… building 10,000+ hours in areas in which we become more committed… becoming the wizened adults in the room as the next generation comes up behind us, seeking to prove their value… then overshadowed by a variety of forces and the eternal belief that “new” is more exciting than “established,” even if it is not real.

And then our bodies participate in the thinning of that knowledge biologically. In this era, knowing what is a loss of memory or a limit of same is versus living our lives in a newly (for those of us over 40) computerized and interneted era is a modern challenge. We are the first wave of deciding what is worth remembering in our brains and what is appropriate to leave to our “equipment.”
