THB #386: Bottoms

I don’t want to be writing about this movie today… on its opening day. But there are only 56 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, as opposed to 124 for Gran Turismo. It’s at 98%!!!! And my review will only add to that.

August, after the 2nd weekend, has always been a tough place for someone who loves movies… because a lot of good ones get dumped here. Rotten Tomatoes has 34 movies listed as opening today and tomorrow. (Mojo only lists 11 of them.) A lot it is just fulfilling the theatrical requirement in distribution deals before send the films off to streaming before Halloween.

But Bottoms, which premiered at SXSW, getting all those good reviews, is not a dump movie. It’s the kind of movie that people will be quoting for decades… not exagerating.
