I have been chewing and chewing and chewing on The Answer or even any really good idea about settling the WGA strike for months now. I play around with an idea, pawing at it like a cat with a piece of yarn, and I have never felt comfortable with publishing anything, because I don’t want to add to the metric tons of simplistic or misguided analysis out there.

Thinking on it, I am not all that interested in the dogma about what is righteous. I support The Writers and The Actors. I love righteousness also. But this is business. Business is, broadly, immoral. If a gig economy for writers (and ultimately, actors) is what the business model is going to be for a while, let’s try to solve for that and not “what is right.”
