It has been pointed out that the words “Jeff Shell” were not used on today’s call about the quarterly numbers. But this is misleading, in that without naming the affair-challenged ex-ceo, “the thing that happened” was discussed a number of times.
On the other hand, without all the hype, the thing that was almost completely left undiscussed? Comcast’s Cable TV business.
It’s very much there in the numbers. $7.4 billion in the first quarter of this year… the biggest single revenue segment in the company. But if you listened to the conference call, you would think they weren’t even in that business.
The lead story for the day - aside from Voldemort - was home internet service. “We’re the best service now and we are focused on getting better every day” was the theme. And indeed, that service is the #2 revenue line for Comcast, with Domestic Broadband generating $6.3 billion in the last quarter.
