THB #299: Oscar Voting Has Begun

Oscar nomination voting has begun. Apparently, The Academy is still calling members directly, via a telemarketing company, reminding members to watch movies and vote.

I feel like I should be opining my butt off… and meant to do a piece on the short list documentaries yesterday and then again, today… but my computer is busted and it is breathtakingly debilitating. First, there is the agony of being thrown out of your natural working rhythm. Then, there are hours spent on the phone with, in my case, Apple, trying to figure out what the problem is. (After multiple senior support staff have been in on the discussion, it seems to be a case of some program embedding itself within the layers of the operating system in a rare way, causing the problem.. not Apple’s fault.) And there have been hours clearing the hard drive and reloading… which I will be doing a second time after writing this newsletter.
