Can’t write about movies or the movie/tv business today.
Can’t get past the shame. Shame on myself. Shame on the Constitution. Shame on America.
I purposely have not allowed myself the indulgence of making this a political platform. If I decide to have one, I will add one.
But…
There are so many ways in which this day in America, June 24, 2022, will be remembered for all that we did not do to protect our fellow Americans, allowing them to be bullied, in some cases to death, by a small minority determined to control the lives of others while giving themselves the widest latitude to do as they think best in their own interests.
Those grubby hustlers who lied and cheated their way onto The Supreme Court with little interest in uphold the rights of Americans they don’t care for… they are pawns on the board.
Did the pilgrims come to America in pursuit of the tyranny of the religious?
We, as a nation, have had plenty of tyrrany to hand out. But wasn’t the idea to protect the American minority from the American majority’s whims?
We’re going to get a steady diet of “Wasn’t me!” over the weeks to come. The ways we excuse ourselves from the failures of our nation are endless.
But today, I feel shame. We should all feel shame. We should all linger in the ugliness of lives that will be lost to this senseless ruling and the others soon to come from this Kangaroo Court.
And those of you who are celebrating this particular ruling, be wary. You argue that the rights of others are an infringement on your rights. Well, that lie will soon become a truth. You can’t hold human life so cheaply forever from the minority position. And when the wave comes, it will be too strong. It will be repressive. It won’t be right. But it will come, poison in response to poison.
This is a dark day for America… for the next generation, fighting to get back basic human rights that have no place in the governmental discourse in the 21st century of a civilized country.
I love movies. I love the chess board of the industry. I will return to this, perhaps tomorrow, perhaps Monday.
But for today, I mourn my country, for all that it allows itself not to be.

I read your column every day - and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your courage and wisdom. You nailed it today: shame, anger, desperation. Where is this country heading toward?
Check out the statement from Clarence Thomas on gay marriage. These fraudulent justices are bent on bring the country back to the Middle Ages. Vote them out.
