yeah certainly — i think you have a point about neo and the success of ‘the matrix’ on the resurgence of the reluctant hero/hero’s backstory as a go-to pop culture mainstay; that anakin skywalker – basically a rehash of the luke skywalker character but taking the dark road in the final stretch instead of choosing the light like his son – came out the same year is interesting, phantom menace was fairly reviled but a hell of a lot of people saw it and it did make a shitload of cash, so perhaps ani is also in the mix there re: the new wave of reluctant hero storylines
