A long-anticipated bomb went off in Hollywood during the July 4 weekend emptiness. On Monday, the New Paramount (because everyone has forgotten New Coke?) team came out to meet the press. And said… almost nothing. There were some basic arguments for improving things. But the core was “we’re going to do what a studio does better.” We’ve never heard that before. David Ellison might be the New Candy Man for Hollywood. Nothing wrong with that. But no one has gotten anything close to clarity on the idea of how technology will make the art any better. And in some cases, no one really asked. Plus, the rest of the news that was almost fit to print.
