David Reads The Trades, 3/27/25

Episode 198, Thursday, March 27, 2025

My favorite DRTT in a while, as I take a bite into a lot of not-too-smart… David Greenbaum marks his territory at Disney with a Scorsese greenlight that, unlike on The Studio, will actually get made… Meanwhile, the next Leo auteur movie gets a trailer that only starts to answer questions… The Academy sets off more complaints by half-assing a comment on a detained filmmaker without naming him… Sinners tracking kicks off soft and has 3 weeks to fix what should be an opening to about double the tracking… Mid-Century Modern gets soft reviews because it is a 3-camera sitcom and critics laughed hard, but need more angst, it seems… Zaslav proven not to be the dumbest Z-named person in town… The surprising gentility of the brutal The Studio…. and Marc Platt’s other son doesn’t know when to shut up…
